I want to make something clear upfront: my stay at Hotel Leskan Park was independently booked and paid for out of pocket. This was not part of my Cologne Tourism collaboration, which covered only the KรถlnPass and Big Bus tour. I mention this because it gives me a genuinely unbiased perspective.
I stayed here with my partner and our baby for three nights in May 2026, paying approximately โฌ110/night including breakfast. One thing to factor in: Cologne charges a City Tax (Kurtaxe) separately โ I paid โฌ9.45 total for two adults across the three nights (~โฌ1.58 per person per night). This was not included in the hotel bill and was charged on top at checkout. Worth knowing when you're budgeting.

My Personal Verdict: Recommended
"Hotel Leskan Park is a solid, comfortable hotel with a genuinely good location and a breakfast that punches above its price point. Not luxury, but reliable and family-friendly."
Insider Tip:Ask for a room on a higher floor โ better views and noticeably quieter. Ground floor rooms can get street noise in the morning.

Location โ Is It Well Placed?
Very. This is probably Hotel Leskan Park's strongest card.

The hotel is within walking distance of Cologne city centre โ a 15โ20 minute walk to the Cathedral, or a 5-minute tram/U-Bahn ride. For a city break, this is the right balance: you're close enough to walk to dinner and morning coffee without dragging your suitcase through tourist crowds, but far enough from the Cathedral square that prices are noticeably lower and the streets are quieter in the evenings.
The immediate neighbourhood is residential and calm. There are a couple of supermarkets within 5 minutes on foot โ genuinely useful when travelling with a baby (we needed a bottle of formula on the second evening and it wasn't a crisis).
The Room โ What to Expect
The rooms are clean, comfortable, and functional โ not luxurious, but well-maintained and thoughtfully laid out. The room we had was a double with a cot arranged near the window.
The bed was properly comfortable โ this matters after a day of walking around Cologne. Linens were good quality. The bathroom was compact but practical with decent water pressure.
Things that worked well:
- Good blackout curtains (important with a baby)
- USB charging points on both bedside tables
- Quiet air conditioning unit
- The cot was sturdy and arrived with clean bedding without us having to ask twice
Things to be aware of:
- Rooms on lower floors can hear some street noise in the mornings from around 7am
- The wardrobe is on the smaller side for a 2-night stay with baby luggage
- No bath, shower-only (not an issue for us but worth knowing if you wanted a bath)
Breakfast
This is where Hotel Leskan Park genuinely surprised me. The breakfast spread is excellent โ probably the best included hotel breakfast I've had in this price range in Germany.
Highlights:
- Multiple hot options (eggs prepared to order, sausages, pastries)
- Proper sourdough and rye breads, not just white toast
- Good quality cold cuts and cheeses
- Fresh fruit and yoghurt section
- Filter coffee that's actually good quality (often where German hotels fall down)
Breakfast is served until 10:30am, which is important when you're travelling with a baby โ we never managed to leave our room before 8:30am. The slightly later cut-off gave us breathing room.
Was it worth paying ~โฌ110/night for room + breakfast? Given what breakfast costs separately in Cologne (โฌ12โ18 per person at a cafรฉ), including it in the room rate effectively makes the room itself โฌ75โ85/night โ which is good value in a well-located Cologne hotel.

Family Friendliness (Travelling with a Baby)
We were travelling with a baby under 1 year old, and Hotel Leskan Park handled this well.
- Cot available โ requested in advance and was set up before we arrived
- Ground floor entrance has a step-free alternative entrance for prams โ ask at reception
- Staff were genuinely helpful (one member helped us fold the pram when our hands were full)
- Breakfast area had space to park the pram and the staff brought a high chair without being asked
- No dedicated baby-changing facilities in the rooms (use the bathroom floor or bring your own changing mat)
For families with slightly older children (toddlers), the hotel's location near a park and a quiet residential street makes it well-suited. Not a resort with a pool โ but a practical, comfortable base for a city trip.
Value for Money
At ~โฌ110/night including breakfast, Hotel Leskan Park sits in the mid-range bracket for Cologne hotels. Add the Cologne City Tax (~โฌ1.58 per adult per night, charged separately at checkout) to your total โ for two adults over three nights that came to โฌ9.45 extra, which brought our effective per-night cost to ~โฌ113. Still fair value, but don't let it catch you off guard.
You're paying for:
- A genuine, very solid breakfast
- Good location (not central enough to pay tourist-area premiums, close enough to walk everywhere)
- Clean, comfortable, well-managed hotel
- Staff who are helpful and friendly
Compared to alternatives in similar price range:
- Novotel/ibis in the same zone: Comparable price, more generic experience, weaker breakfast
- City centre hotels near the Cathedral: โฌ150โ200/night for similar quality, noisier, more tourist-facing
- Budget options (Motel One, etc.): โฌ70โ90/night, no breakfast, less personal
For what you get, I'd stay here again. No hesitation.
Who Is Hotel Leskan Park Good For?
Ideal for:
- Couples and families on a Cologne city break of 2โ3 nights
- Travellers who value a good breakfast
- Families with young children who need a quiet street and cot-friendly setup
- Anyone who wants to be close to the centre without paying Cathedral-square premiums
Probably not for:
- Business travellers needing a desk-focused workspace and premium facilities
- Groups or solo travellers who want to be in the thick of the nightlife
- Anyone prioritising having a bath
Final Verdict โ Would I Stay Again?
Yes. Straightforwardly yes.
Hotel Leskan Park did everything I needed it to do: comfortable beds, great breakfast, helpful staff, easy location, and genuinely family-friendly. That's the brief for a city-break hotel, and it delivered.

At ~โฌ110/night with breakfast, it's fair value for Cologne. I'd go back.
