Tips to get Cheap Hotels in Europe? | Accommodation Guide

  • Travel during the off-season: One of the easiest ways to save money on hotels in Europe is to travel during the off-season. Prices are generally lower, and you’ll also avoid the crowds that can make some destinations overwhelming during peak season.
  • Book in advance: Another way to save money on hotels is to book well in advance. Many hotels offer discounts for early bookings, so it’s worth checking their websites or contacting them directly to see if they have any special deals available.
  • Consider alternative accommodations: In addition to hotels, there are many alternative accommodation options available in Europe, such as hostels, guesthouses, and vacation rentals. These can often be much cheaper than hotels, especially if you’re traveling with a group. I personally always use Hotelworld for finding a cheap deal.
  • Use price comparison sites: Websites like Booking.com, Expedia, and Trivago can help you compare prices from different hotels and find the best deals. Be sure to check multiple sites before booking to ensure that you’re getting the best price.
  • Join loyalty programs: Many hotel chains offer loyalty programs that allow you to earn points or rewards for each stay. These points can then be redeemed for free nights or other benefits, making it easier to save money on future hotel stays. Hilton Honors could be one example and these days you can also buy points for Hilton Honor if you have less point for your next trip.
  • Stay outside the city center: Hotels in the city center can be much more expensive than those located on the outskirts of town. Consider staying in a nearby suburb or smaller town and taking public transportation into the city to save money. This is something which I always practice personally when I am travelling.
  • Negotiate: If you’re booking directly with a hotel, it’s worth asking if they have any special deals or discounts available. You may be able to negotiate a lower rate, especially if you’re booking for an extended period or during a slower time of year.
