Rogoznica Croatia is a coastal town with a population close to 5,000 inhabitants. It is located on the Adriatic Sea and has been known as an agricultural center since antiquity. The city was first mentioned in 1196 from the name of “Raguso” who was a duke at that time. In the Middle Ages it was under the dukes of Krk and became an important trade hub for salt and fishing products.

Rogoznica’s favourable position by sea contributed to its growth as a trading center which continued until 18th century when it became part of Habsburg Monarchy.

Top Things to do in Rogoznica Croatia?

Dragons Eye

Dragons Eye is the main and one of the most popular location in Rogoznica and most of the tourist only squeeze this place in their Croatia Itinerary because of this.

This is a hidden lake surrounded by cliffs which was formed in a span of thousands of year and guess what, you can take dip in this lake if you like.

According to the legends the water level of the lakes decided whether the dragon is currently in the lake or it has gone out to fetch something to eat.

If you tend to have some free time then walk across the dragon lake where you hear the sound of water coming from and you will eventually reach a hidden rock beach which is actually just for you. I was the only one there on that beach when I visited.

Walk around Marina Frapa | Grab something to eat

If you are looking for something to eat after diving in the Dragons Eye in Croatia then this is the place where you have to come. Just around 100m from the Dragons Eye lake is the Marina Frapa. You can enjoy eating your delicious lunch or Dinner while gazing at the beautiful harbour.

The centre of Marina Frapa is an artificial Island which has stores to buy swimming gears, Konzum, Souvenier shops and restaurants.

Visit the Museum in the Sea

A British submarine took down an Italian freight ship named Nuncio between the Mulo lighthouse and the island of Velika Smokvica in January 1942. (literally translating to large-small fig). The wreck was discovered in 2008, although it took a long time to find. This sunken ship, along with a slew of others from various eras that lie beneath Rogoznica’s waters, has earned the area the moniker “the museum in the sea.” In these seas, diving is permitted; the majority of the divers are tourists and (unsurprisingly), scholars.
