The famous battle of Blackwater Bay. This little bay has become famous for that epic battle scene, but it has actually been used for a lot of other scenes too.

Just look on your right from the Dubrovnik West Pier you will find the Dubrovnik West Harbour and that is something which you can see for free. If you want this harbour for yourself then you have to visit this place early in the morning and at that time it is completely free for you.

One of the most famous sequences from Season 2 takes place at the mysterious doors in West Harbour, which also serve as Blackwater Bay, when the gold cloaks were given the command to kill all of King Robert Baratheon’s illegitimate offspring.

3. Pile Harbour: Bokar Fortress and Fort Lovrijenac

Pile Harbour, located next to Pile Gate and immediately outside Dubrovnik’s Old Town Walls, offers a view of King’s Landing Harbour. Between Fort Lovrijenac on the right and Bokar Fortress on the left is the little fishing harbour.

The entrance and beaches of King’s Landing are depicted in this scene from Season 2, Episode 6, “The Old Gods and the New,” as the Lannisters bid Princess Myrcella farewell. In Season 6, Episode 1 of “The Red Woman,” the setting reappears as Cersei waits for Myrcella to arrive.

4. Gradac Park – The Purple Wedding

Once you have completed exploring the above three places there are two things which you can do. First you can either go-to Lovrijenac Fort to cover the Red Keep but yes you have to buy the entry ticket for the same for around 200 Kuna / 33.33 EUR more details about that can be found below.

Or you can walk to the Gradac Park which is around 200m from the west harbour.

Gradac Park, which is close to the Old Town of Dubrovnik, was featured in Season 4 Episode 2 of “The Lion and the Rose” as the location of the Purple Wedding feast when King Joffrey was poisoned and died.

In the same season’s episode three, “Breaker of the Chains,” when Sansa departs King’s Landing, the Park was also mentioned. Fort Lovrijenac is not far from the park, which is well worth the trip for the views of the ancient town.

The 16th Century Ethnographic Museum, which was once a granary, today houses agricultural displays and traditional clothing. It is well known as King’s Landing’s Littlefinger’s brothel in Game of Thrones.

Just walk around 20 meter up hill from the Franciscan Monastery and you will reach the Ethnographic Museum.

8. Jesuit Staircase by Saint Ignatius Church

The steps of the Great Sept of Baelor at King’s Landing are also known as the Jesuit Staircase. There are four locations in the Old Town where Cersei must begin her infamous Walk of Shame in Season 5, Episode 10 of “Mother’s Mercy”: the Jesuit Staircase, Od Margarite Street, St. Dominik street, and Ploce gate. However, the Jesuit Staircase is arguably the most famous location where Cersei must begin her walk of shame to return home.

Numerous additional people were brought in to line the streets as cafes and shops were closed. In Season 5, Episode 1, “The Wars to Come,” the staircase was also seen as a location where people gathered to pay their respects to Tywin Lannister.

9. The Stradun

Between the Cathedral and Sponza Palace, Dubrovnik’s main boulevard is dotted with boutiques, cafes, and old-world structures. It appeared in “Mother’s Mercy,” Episode 10 of Season 5, where there was a Walk of Penance.

Most of the market scenes at King’s Landing, as well as those involving the City Watch and the murder of the bastard children, were filmed in the winding streets of Dubrovnik. It was also mentioned in the Walk of Penance in “Mother’s Mercy,” Episode 10 of Season 5.

Another noteworthy appearance occurred in Season 2, Episode 5, “The Ghost of Harrenhal,” when Bronn and Tyrion heard the outcry against Cersei and King Joffrey, who is referred to as the “product of the incest.”

11. Dominican Monastery

The Dominican Monastery is the main attraction on St. Dominic Street, and it was from its steps that the protest speech against the Lannisters in Season 2, Episode 5, “the Ghost of Harrenhal,” was delivered.

12. Ploče Gate

Ploe Gate, the Old Town’s eastern entrance, was featured in Seasons 2 and 5 of Game of Thrones. In “The Ghost of Harrenhal,” the fifth episode of Season 2, Tyrion and Lancel Lannister may be heard conversing with Bronn in the background.

After her Walk of Shame in Season 5, Episode 10 of “Mother’s Mercy,” Cercsei entered the Red Keep through the Ploe Gate and was met by Qyburn.

13. Hotel Belvedere

In the Season 4 finale, “The Mountain and the Viper,” the combat sequence between Prince Oberyn the Mountain and a viper took place in the abandoned Hotel Belvedere, which is situated just outside of Dubrovnik.

Despite Split soccer fans’ addition of some paint, the tiny amphitheater is easily recognizable.

Game of Thrones Locations in Dubrovnik which needs Entry Ticket

1. Lovrijenac Fort – The Red Keep

Fort Lovrijenac, also known as the St. Lawrence Fortress, is a magnificent fortress outside the western gate of Dubrovnik’s Old City and is immediately recognisable as the Red Keep in King’s Landing. In Seasons 2 and 3, The Fort reappears frequently in Game of Thrones.

In the Season 2 premiere of “The North Remembers,” a tournament is staged there to commemorate King Joffrey’s naming.

Later in the episode, Cersei approaches Littlefinger in the Red Keep. He informs her that “knowledge is power,” and she responds, “Power is power.” King Joffrey arrives there after being attacked at Pile Gate, and Tyrion slaps him there as well.

In Season 3 Episode 1 (“Valar Dohaeris”), when Bronn informs Tyrion he should double his pay now that he is knighted, and in Season 3 Episode 5 (“Kissed by Fire”), when Cersei begs Littlefinger to assist in evicting the Tyrells from King’s Landing, Fort Lovrijenac also makes an appearance.

2. The City Walls

The city walls of Dubrovnik have appeared in the series numerous times and are one of the most well-known and stunning tourist destinations in the city. They were one of the greatest mediaeval fortification complexes, and in 1979, UNESCO designated them as a World Heritage Site.

In the Season 3 premiere, “Valar Dohaeris,” Tyrion, Bronn, and Podrick walk along the city walls as labourers fix the damage from the Battle of Blackwater. This is one of the most famous views from the city.

They appear in the scene where the Mountain kills prisoners in Season 4, Episode 7 of “Mockingbird,” and once more in Season 5, Episode 3 of “High Sparrow,” where King Tommen Baratheon advises Cersei to go back to Casterly Rock.

The Walls feature again in Season 5, Episode 4 ‘The Sons of the Harpy’ when Lancel apprehends Loras Tyrell leading to his arrest and it’s from the Walls that we see the ship carrying Marcella’s body en route to King’s Landing in Season 6, Episode 1 ‘The Red Woman’.

Tip for City Walls – Game of Thrones travel advice for Dubrovnik: City Walls walking tickets cost 250 Kuna / 33.27 EUR each, and we strongly advise doing it at opening time (often 8am) to avoid the craziest crowds. The Pile gate serves as the primary entrance to the walls, and the St. Lucas Fortress and the St. John’s Fortress serve as the other two gates.

3. Minčeta tower – The House of Undying

Another thing which you would explore if you are doing the city walls tour of Dubrovnik is the Minceta Tower which is the highest point of the city wall.

The majestic Minceta Tower, located atop Dubrovnik, offers stunning views of the Old City. When Daenerys Targaryen looks for the opening in the walls while pursuing her stolen dragons, it is depicted as the House of the Undying in Qarth in Season 2 Episode 10 of “Valar Morghulis.”

4. The Rector’s Palace

The Rector’s Palace, which was constructed in the 15th century for the rector in charge of Dubrovnik at the time, is now a museum.

It was mentioned in Season 2, Episode 6, “The Old Gods and the New,” when Daenerys attempted to get ships to transport her army over the Narrow Sea but was turned down by the Spice King.

5. Lokrum Island

The city of Qarth is located on the beautiful, green Lokrum Island, just a few hundred meters from the Dubrovnik mainland. The island, which was once used as a quarantine area, is now a well-liked day trip destination for both locals and visitors.

Lokrum Island had an appearance in Season 2, Episode 5, “The Ghost of Harrenhal,” when Daenerys Targaryen went there to mingle with the elite of the city. The former Benedictine abbey on the island’s cloister is where the action takes place.

We would recommend you to go early morning to Lokrum Island so that you can explore everything on the Island not only the Game of Thrones Shot location on the Island. The earliest ship is at 9 AM in the morning and the last ship back is around 8 PM in the evening.

The tickets can be bought for 200 Kuna / 33 EUR on the old Port of Dubrovnik which is just next to the exit of Domnican Street.

6. Trsteno Arboretum

The Trsteno Arboretum’s exotic gardens, which are 30 minutes’ drive from Dubrovnik and overlook the Adriatic Sea, are frequently seen in Seasons 3 and 4 of Game of Thrones as the King’s Landing gardens.

Trsteno Arboretum may only be reached by taxi or public transportation. The public bus cost you around just 5 EUR and you can easily reach to the place. If you want to plan your trip well before time then you can book the public transport ticket from Dubrovnik to Trsteno Arboretum.
