Montenegro is often overlooked by travelers looking to explore more “exotic” destinations in the Balkans. But make no mistake, Montenegro is a beautiful country with plenty to offer the traveler. 
 
Dubrovnik is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Croatia. And for good reason – it’s a beautiful, historic city with plenty to see and do. But if you’re looking to escape the crowds and explore something new, Montenegro is the perfect day trip destination. Just a short ferry ride from Dubrovnik, Montenegro offers stunning scenery, medieval villages, and a relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere. Here are some of the best things to see and do on a Dubrovnik to Montenegro day trip.

How far is Montenegro from Dubrovnik?

If you’re looking to explore a new country on your day off from Dubrovnik, Montenegro is the perfect place to go. Located just a few hours away by bus, Montenegro offers stunning scenery, friendly locals, and plenty of activities to keep you busy. Here’s how to get from Dubrovnik to Montenegro so you can start exploring this beautiful country. 

The first step is to take a bus from Dubrovnik to the town of Herceg Novi in Montenegro. You can catch a bus from either the Dubrovnik Airport or the main bus station in Dubrovnik. The journey takes around 4 hours and there are several buses per day, so you can easily find a time that works for you. 

Once you arrive in Herceg Novi, you’ll be able to start exploring all that Montenegro has to offer. If you’re looking for a beach day, head to the nearby town of Kotor where you can relax on the shores of the Adriatic Sea. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, take a hike up Mount Lovcen for amazing views of the surrounding countryside. No matter what you decide to do, you’re sure to have a great time.

If you’re looking for a beach to relax on, Meljine is a great option and is only a short bus ride away from the centre of Herceg Novi.
